FDRM(1) — Pixar Programmer’s Manual
NAME
fdrm− remove files and directories from the fast-disk
SYNOPSIS
fdrm [ −r ] [ −i ] [ −c ] [ − ] file ...
DESCRIPTION
Fdrm removes the entries for one or more files from a Fast-Disk directory, and, if specified, Fast-Disk directories as well.
If a designated file is a directory, an error comment is printed unless the optional argument −r is present. In that case, fdrm recursively deletes the entire contents of the specified directory, and the directory itself.
If the −i (interactive) option is in effect, fdrm asks whether to delete each file, and, under −r, whether to examine each directory.
The −c option directs fdrm to take exclusive control of the Fast-Disk filesystem until its work has been completed; this yields a speed advantage at the expense of excluding other users from access to the disk (see FDPERF_EXCLUSIVE under manual page fd_perf(3H)).
The null option − indicates that all the arguments following it are to be treated as file names. This allows the specification of file names starting with a minus.
There is no direct Fast-Disk counterpart to the UNIX rmdir utility. The −r option of fdrm can be used to remove Fast-Disk directories.
All Fast-Disk pathnames not beginning with a slash (/) are interpreted to be relative to the current Fast-Disk working directory specified by the FDCWD environment variable (see fdcwd(7)).
