NAME
oracle - executes the ORACLE RDBMS
SYNOPSIS
oracle
DESCRIPTION
The file oracle contains the oracle executable. It is a
combination of the Archiver process (arch), the Database
Writer background process (dbwr), the Log Writer background
process (lgwr), the Process Monitor (pmon), and the System
Monitor (smon). During installation, the oracle executable
is moved to $ORACLE_HOME/bin, where it becomes the ORACLE
kernel. Here, it loads the System Global Area to become the
ORACLE RDBMS.
