NAME
arch - Archiver process; copies full redo log files to tape
SYNOPSIS
arch
DESCRIPTION
The Archiver or arch background process, described in the
ORACLE Database Adminstrator's Guide, performs automatic
archival of redo log files when the database is used in
ARCHIVELOG mode and archiving is enabled. Files can be
archived to disk. The arch process starts automatically on
instance startup if the init.ora parameter archive_log_start
is set to true.
FILES
The Archiver process backs up online redo log files.
