OSCMRF(8)  —  OBJECTSTORE COMMANDS

NAME

oscmrf − delete all cache and commseg files in the free pool

SYNOPSIS

oscmrf hostname version-number

DESCRIPTION

oscmrf tells the Cache Manager process running on hostname to delete all the cache files and commseg files in its free pool. The Cache Manager deletes only files that are not in use by any client, so it is always safe to run this command.

After oscmrf runs, if an additional client appears, the Cache Manager must create new cache and commseg files, which is somewhat slower.  hostname defaults to the local host.

The version-number argument is useful only to sites that are running both a Release 1 Cache Manager and a Release 2 Cache Manager. In Release 2, version-number defaults to 2, but by specifying it with a value of 1, you can operate on the Release 1 Cache Manager with the oscmrf command that is installed as part of Release 2.

Users who purchase Release 2 initially, who have not upgraded from Release 1, should not use the version-number argument.
