DESCRIPTION
The Serial Optical Controller is an SBus card which implements two full duplex Fibre Channel interfaces. Each Fibre Channel interface supports a point to point interface to another Fibre Channel device.
The SOC device driver is a nexus driver. As such it provides no interface to application programs or utilities. The soc (7) driver interfaces to the sbus (7) nexus device driver and the pln (7) device driver. The SOC driver implements portions of the FC-2 and FC-4 layers of the Fibre Channel.
DIAGNOSTICS
A message of soc_attach0: Could not get Worldwide name indicates the Worldwide name was unavailable at attach time.
A message of soc_attach0: Could not get source port indicates the port number for the local controller was unavailable at attch time.
A message of soc_attach0: Could not get destination port indicates the port number of the remote controller is unavailable at attach time.
Any one of the previous diagnostics will result in the soc not being able to communicate with other units.
A message of soc0: transport cannot transport via fabric. indicates a Fibre Channel fabric is connected to the soc. This is not supported.
A message of soc_transport0: invalid fc_ioclass means the Fibre Channel FC-4 protocol you have requested is not supported.
A message of soc_uc_get_pkt: no unsolicited cmds indicates and inbound Fibre Channel request was received and discarded.
