NAME

mkbookinfo − for creating or modifying the AnswerBook configuration file

SYNOPSIS

mkbookinfo -a answerbook-id [-l list-file]
mkbookinfo -a answerbook-id [-f bookinfo]

AVAILABILITY

mkbookinfo is available as part of OpenWindows Version 3.0.1 and the Solaris 2.0 operating system.

DESCRIPTION

The mkbookinfo utility provides AnswerBook administrators an interactive, menu-driven interface for creating or modifying the AnswerBook configuration file (bookinfo).

The bookinfo file is the configuration file from which docviewer(1), navigator(1), and related utilities obtain information on the location of the various components of a document collection.  See bookinfo(5) for a detailed description of the bookinfo file format and usage.

mkbookinfo guides the administrator through the process of modifying the various fields in the bookinfo file: TOC path, PostScript path, search path, and title.  mkbookinfo uses an existing bookinfo file as a template, extracting the list of books in that file and using the current values of the bookinfo fields in the template as its default values.  mkbookinfo can verify the correctness of a configuration and create a new bookinfo file based on that configuration.

AnswerBook users should not normally need to use this utility.  You must have the AnswerBook binaries in your search path in order to run mkbookinfo.

OPTIONS

−a answerbook-id
Specify the id of the AnswerBook to be viewed.

mkbookinfo uses an existing bookinfo file as a template.  It uses the same scheme for locating a template file as do all other AnswerBook utilities, looking in order for BOOKINFO, and then /etc/bookinfo.  You can override this with the following command line options:

−f bookinfo-file
Specify a bookinfo file to be used as the template.

−l list-file
Specify file containing a list of books to be used in lieu of an existing bookinfo file as a template.  This option may be useful if existing bookinfo files are unavailable or corrupt.
