CHALKTALK(6)
NAME
chalktalk − OpenWindows NeWS TNT C++ Communication application that allows interactive drawing that occurs on one machine to be distributed to multiple windows on multiple machines.
SYNOPSIS
chalktalk [generic-tool-arguments]
generic-tool-arguments
chalktalk accepts the generic tool arguments listed in xview(1)
DESCRIPTION
Once chalktalk has established a connection to a server connections to
other machines can be made. Choose the Network.. item from the menu by pressing the menu button anywhere in the drawing area. This brings up a list of the servers that chalktalk is currently connected to. Now move the pointer to the Connect To: textfield and enter the hostname followed by a colon and then the display followed by a period and then the screen. An example might be Merlin:0.0.
Once started chalktalk opens a window that contains a palette of drawing tools. When a user draws an object or types text into a window the object or text appears on the other machine(s) display .
The user must have XNeWS security access to the other hosts. For example if a user on the machine Gandalf wishes to talk to the user on Merlin the person on the machine Merlin must type xhost + Gandalf before the user on Merlin can connect to Gandalf. See the xhost man page for more information.
