NAME

rap − raster rap

SYNOPSIS

/usr/openwin/demo/rap

DESCRIPTION

RasterRap is a NeWS and tnt application that lets you play around with PostScript raster imaging effects. There is a palette of effects on the left edge of the window, and a palette of images on the right edge.

To choose an effect, press the SELECT button over one of the settings on the left edge. Some of the effects use an image as paint. To select an image to be used by an effect, press the SELECT button over one of the settings at the right edge.

To play around with RasterRap effects, press the SELECT button over the center window, move the mouse around, and see what happens. Try out different images, combining the effects in creative ways!

The "Clear" button at the bottom edge of the window erases the drawing to black. The "Show Buffers" button pops up three windows displaying the (normally) off-screen buffers (BackCanvas, DrawCanvas, and PictCanvas), so you can see the rendering going on "behind the scenes".

You may drag the currently selected setting from the image pallet at the right edge of the window, into the central drawing canvas, or into any other image setting. You may also select a part of the image in the centeral drawing canvas (using the "Select" effect), and drag it into one of the settings in the image pallet, or into itself, to zoom. You can run several RasterRap demos at the same time, and drag’n’drop images between them.  You may also drag a file name from a text field into RasterRap, and the server will try to load a raster file of that name.
