NEWSCLOCK(6)  —  {:heading=>"NEWSCLOCK\|(\|6\|)\0\0\(em\0\0\∗(]D"}

NAME

newsclock − a simple clock

SYNOPSIS

/usr/openwin/demo/newsclock [ generic-tool-arguments ] [ −v ] [ −r ] [ −seconds ] [ −date ] [ −face name ] [ −timezone name ] [ −alarm setting hour min cmd ] [ −hour cmd ]

DESCRIPTION

newsclock is a clock written using NeWS and tnt. It is intended as an example of using the wireservice and cps to get an application started, sharing code between applications by using packages, parsing and handling the generic tool and application specific options, and participating in the SaveWorkspace protocol.

OPTIONS

generic-tool-arguments
newsclock accepts most of the XView generic tool arguments described in the Manual.XViewReference

−v Causes newsclock to print its version number and then exit.

−r Forces reloading of the shared newsclock code package. This is mainly useful when debugging newsclock.

−seconds
Enables the display of seconds if the selected face supports it.

−date Enables the display of the date if the selected face supports it.

−face name
Selects a face for the clock (analog or digital).

−timezone name
Specifies the name of an alternate timezone (overrides the TZ environment variable; see ctime(3) for more info).

−alarm setting hour min cmd
Specifies the setting of the alarm. Setting selects the alarm mode (off, once, or daily). Hour and minute specify the alarm time in a 24 hour format. Cmd specifies a Unix command that is executed using the shell when the alarm "rings." If cmd is empty, then the bell will ring and the clock will open.

−hour cmd
specifies a Unix command that is executed using the shell once every hour.
