NAME

gallery − a tool to take pictures of your desktop

SYNOPSIS

/usr/openwin/demo/gallery

DESCRIPTION

Gallery is a NeWS and tnt application that lets you grab images of your desktop, or load raster image files, and then drag and drop, these images on other applications such as ’Rap’,

The Gallery window is made of a menu bar and eight Items.
Each of the item can hold a picture. An item can be loaded with a picture by either: Drag-n-Dropping
a picture (e.g. from another Gallery item or Rap) or a filename, or by Grabbing
a canvas or an arbitrary rectangular screen area using the ’Grab’ buttons, or by loading a raster file using the ’File...’ button.

Similarly, you can use the contents of an item by either: Drag-n-Dropping the image from the item (e.g. on Rap or a PizzaTool pizza preview), or by saving it in a raster file using the "FILE..." button.

The ’Grab Canvas’ button allows you to take a picture of any canvas on the screen and load it in the currently selected item. After pressing the ’Grab Canvas’ button, you may Drag the mouse on the desktop with the SELECT button pressed. To help you know what canvas will be pictured in the item, the boundaries of each canvas are highlighted/dehighlighted as the mouse pointer enters/leaves a canvas. When you release the SELECT button, a picture of the canvas under the mouse is loaded in the item.

The ’Grab Area’ button allows you to take a picture of an arbitrary rectangular area of the screen and load it in the currently selected item. After pressing the ’Grab Area’ button, you may Drag the mouse on the desktop with the SELECT button pressed. To area covered is highlighted and a picture of the area is loaded in the item when you release the SELECT button.
