NAME

aha284x − HPDD SCSI driver for Adaptec 284x VESA local bus

DESCRIPTION

The aha284x module is a SCSI driver that controls the Adaptec 7770, also known as the Arrow chip. The driver supports the embedded Adaptec 7770 chip on OEM motherboards and add-on cards such as the Adaptec 284x. The driver works with a variety of SCSI peripherals such as, hard disks, tape drives (8mm, 4mm, 1/4-inch, and 9-track), removable devices, CD-ROM drives, etc.  Adaptec 284x is a VESA local bus board.

Configurations

The aha284x module is a boot-loadable device. It expects the interrupt to be at IRQ 11. The I/O Address is at I/O port 1C00 hex, which means the switch settings of sw1, sw2, sw3, and sw4 should all be at the "off" position.  Before installation, users should make sure that the IRQ and I/O address are set correctly.  Once installed, kconfig can be used to reconfigure the board.

Internals

This driver uses HPDD and gsc modules as integral parts of the INTERACTIVE UNIX HPDD subsystem.

CAVEATS

TwinChannel SCSI is not supported under Release 4.1.
