chgcon(1M) —
NAME
chgcon − change console
SYNOPSIS
/etc/chgcon
DESCRIPTION
The chgcon command selects a new console from a list of supported consoles. After selecting a new console, you must reboot the system for the new console to become active. If you select Serial Console or Auto Detect mode, this command checks the file /etc/conf/sdevice.d/asy for the selected serial port base address. If the address is not configured, an error message will be displayed and chgcon exits without updating the hard disk’s boot block. At this point, you need to run kconfig(1) to configure the new desired asy port base address and then build a new kernel. After building a new kernel, you quit kconfig and run the chgcon command to select the new console. After executing the chgcon command, run kconfig again to install the newly-built kernel, then reboot your system.
