NAME

sxsession − NEWS Desk desktop tool, session manager

SYNOPSIS

sxsession [ −toolkit options ] [ −C ]

DESCRIPTION

sxsession is a session manager for NEWS Desk.  The program is run initially when you log in from sxdm(1).  sxsession has an application menu from which the user can run any application. 

You can log out by selecting “LOG OUT” from the sxsession session menu. When you do this, you can choose to have the screen which appears the next time you log in be any of the following.

∗ Same as this login
∗ sxsession only

sxsession also features an environment menu.  It can be used to create a variety of user operating environments. 

For detailed usage instructions, refer to Vol. 1 of the NEWS Desk User’s Guide in the NEWS-OS manual set. 

OPTIONS

−C If this option is selected, output directed to the console is displayed in the sxsession console window. 

ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES

sxsession sets the environment variable DISPLAY to the display specified with the −display option. 

MULTI LANGUAGE SUPPORT

Japanese (Shift-JIS/EUC), Korean (EUC) and English (ISO 8859-1) are supported.

PRECAUTIONS

sxsession does not read in the contents of .loginor .profile.  Consequently, none of the environment variables specified in these files are used.  If you wish to make such variables active, they can be set in the file $HOME/.sxsession.  An example $HOME/.sxsession listing is given below.
