HOSTID(1) — NEWS-OS Programmer’s Manual
NAME
hostid − print identifier of current host system
SYNOPSIS
hostid [ −v ]
DESCRIPTION
The hostid command prints the identifier of the current host in hexadecimal. This numeric value is expected to be unique across all hosts and is commonly set to the host’s Internet address. Unfortunately NEWS has its encrypted hostid on ROM. Therefore, there is no way to change or modify it.
When the −v option is specified, it prints the number which represents the identifier of the board, the variant model number and serial number in both hexadecimal and decimal.
