Xnews − Sony NEWS server for X Window System Version 11

SYNOPSIS

Xnews [ option ] ... 

DESCRIPTION

Xnews is the server for Version 11 of the X window system on Sony NEWS hardware.  It will normally be started by xdm(1), or xinit(1), or perhaps by some script. 

Xnews operates under NEWS-OS versions 4.2 on All Sony NEWS Hardwear with Screen that have fb(4) interface. 

CONFIGURATIONS

Xnews supports multiple physical screens connected to a single server program.  By default, It will check devices which named /dev/fbn (n:0,1,..,7), and create screen for each devicep which was attached.  It is assumed that the screens are physically placed from left to right in the order they appear in the file. The main pointing device roams between the screens as if thet were connected together in a ring by their left & right edges. Moving left from the left-most screen will place the pointing device on the right-most screen and moving right from the right-most screen will place the pointing device on the left-most screen. 

It is available to change a configration of screens by describe a file /etc/Xn.screens.  Where n is a digit for the display that this screens are part of. 

Each screen is specified by a line in the file.  A line looks like:

<device path name><visual name of screen>

device path name
is the NEWS-OS device path-names associated with the screen.
 
/dev/fbn (n:0,1,..,7)

visual name of screen
is the name of visual as specified in the X protocol for specifing CLUT type of screen.

LIMITATION

The bell volume and key click cannot changed.
