RDD(8) — NEWS-OS Programmer’s Manual
NAME
rdd − remote disk daemon
SYNOPSIS
/etc/rdd [nservers]
DESCRIPTION
Rdd runs on the remote disk server and handles RPC(Remote Procedure Call) by the client. It also replies to SRQ(Server ReQuest) that is issued when the client boots. Usually, if rdd described in /etc/rc.net, rdd starts when the server system boots. Nservers is the number of request daemons to start. This number should be based on the load expected on this server. Four seems to be a good number.
