SNMPWATCH(1)  —  NEWS-OS Programmer’s Manual

NAME

snmpwatch − SNMP application to watch variable values

SYNOPSIS

snmpwatch [options] gateway variable [variable] ....

DESCRIPTION

snmpwatch is an application that watches the values of the variable(s) variable at the gateway gateway (specified as a dot notation address such as ’128.213.1.2’) via continuous polling for a change in value.  Variables should be specified beginning with ’_mgmt_mib’: for example to watch the value of variable ’_iso_org_dod_internet_mgmt_mib_system_sysDescr’, use ’_mgmt_mib_system_sysDescr’.  snmpwatch will print an indication to stdout if the value(s) of any of the variable(s) being watched changes.  Currently there is a limit of 15 variables that can be watched with one invocation of snmpwatch.

OPTIONS

-i interval Set the default interval between queries to determine the value of variables being watched to interval seconds. The default is currently 900 seconds (15 minutes).  -v Set verbose mode. Instead of indicating only when a variable value has changed, print the every variable value, for every variable obtained. This is by default, off.  -c community Set community name to community for queries. If this option is not used, the community name will default to ’public’.

FILES

/etc/snmp.variablesdefault variable initfile
