NAME

nfsmon − monitor file system status (NFS Server) via SNMP

SYNOPSIS

nfsmon [ -c community-name ] agent-address

DESCRIPTION

nfsmon monitors file system status, cpu load and NFS requests.  This command is designed as an NFS server monitor with SNMP.  The screen is updated every ten seconds by default; this time period is called an interval.

The nfsmon screen is divided into three parts.  The first part, at the top of the screen, is made up of a line.  The first line displays the name of the agent being monitored, the current date and time, and the interval.

The second part of the screen is made up of a line.  The line displays the number of NFS server READ requests, WRITE requests and CPU usage.

NFS Server READ
NFS requests which primarily result in a file system read being performed (read file, read directory, etc.).

NFS Server WRITE
NFS requests which primarily result in a file system write being performed (write file, rename file, create file, delete file, etc.).

CPU Idle
CPU usages.

The third part of the display displays file system status.  With each file system, three numbers are displayed: the name of file system (sometimes as device name), the name of mounted derectory name, and the percentage of file system capacity and I-node usages.

COMMANDS

nfsmon also allows a small set of commands to be entered at its prompt during execution.  The prompt is displayed on the last line of the screen.  For most commands, feedback describing the effect of the command is printed on the same line as the prompt.  The commands are:

^LClear and redraw the screen.

−Decrease the interval by ten seconds.  This will take effect after the next screen update.

+Increase the interval by ten seconds.  This will take effect after the next screen update.

<Decrease the interval by one second.  This will take effect after the next screen update.

>Increase the interval by one second.  This will take effect after the next screen update.

=Reset the interval

q,QExit nfsmon.  Using the interrupt key will also cause nfsmon to exit.

OPTIONS

-c community-name
Specify the community-name of SNMP. The default community-name is "public".

BUGS

Unfortunately, sometimes we cannot get information of I-node usage, in this case, the I-node usage may show "0%".
