MKPKGDIR(8)  —  MAINTENANCE COMMANDS

NAME

mkpkgdir − create a packages-format directory from a packages-format tape

SYNOPSIS

/usr/etc/mkpkgdir [ -s ] source destination

DESCRIPTION

The mkpkgdir command converts a package distribution from tape format to disk format, so that the distribution can be installed from disk with the dopackage(8) command. The distribution will be in tape format.

The conversion step involves modifying the TOC and PDFs by adding a path name after each start and position line.  The path name is relative to the directory into which the the distribution is being extracted (the destination option).

OPTIONS

You can use the following options with mpkgdir:

-v Verbose. A flag to mkpkgdir which causes it to report its progress.

source A non-rewinding tape device such as /dev/nrst1.

destination The directory into which the distribution is to be copied.  This directory is created, and so must not exist initially.
