LOGOEDIT(8)  —  MAINTENANCE COMMANDS

NAME

logoedit − change the ROM banner, copyright, and logo bitmap

SYNOPSIS

ROM> boot sd.si(,,6)/kvm/stand/logoedit
ROM> boot xd(,,6)/kvm/stand/logoedit
ROM> boot tftp.ei(,,)/usr/kvm/stand/logoedit

DESCRIPTION

Logoedit is a standalone program which provides a way to change the ROM banner, copyright, and logo bitmap. The logoedit program resides in the /usr/kvm/stand directory. The following are examples of booting the logoedit program from either a local disk or the network. Please refer to the bootrom(8)man page for details on how to use the boot bootrom command.

The following example assumes the program resides on a local SCSI disk:      ROM> boot sd.si(,,6)/kvm/stand/logoedit When an IPI or SMD disk is in use, use the following command:      ROM> boot xd(,,6)/kvm/stand/logoedit For tftp booting, use the following command:      ROM> boot tftp.ei(,,)/usr/kvm/stand/logoedit

Logoedit changes the contents of the system IDPROM with the new banner, copyright and logo information supplied by the user.

Logoedit first shows the user the current banner and copyright strings, then prompts the user to enter new strings.  The new strings are then installed into the system IDPROM.

Logoedit then prompts the user to enter the pathname to a file containing the new logo data to install.  The pathname must point to an a.out file containing the binary data to be used as the new logo bitmap.

A Sunview Iconedit file can be converted to such a binary file by inserting “.half” assembler directives before each line in the iconedit file, then using the assembler (as(1)) to create the a.out file.

System requirements: Solbourne Series 5 or 5E family system.  For the logo change, the boot ROMs must be at revision 3.4 or later.
