ADDHOST(1M) ADDHOST(1M)

NAME
addhost - add and modify an entry in the host file.

SYNOPSIS
     /usr/sysadm/privbin/addhost -i ipAddress -h hostName [-f]

DESCRIPTION
Addhost adds or modifies an entry in the host file. The entry is added to
the end of /etc/hosts. If the hostname already exists, the entry is
modified to use the new IP address. If the IP address already exists, the
hostname is updated to use the new hostname.

OPTIONS
     -i ipAddress
The ipAddress should be in dotted notation, e.g. 195.3.4.60.

     -h hostName
The hostName can be just the name, e.g. foo, or a fully
               qualified name, e.g. foo.company.com.

-f If this flag is not used, the entry is not added when the entry
exists remotely. If this flag is used, the entry is added
               without checking for remote existance.

FILES
     /etc/hosts System host name file
