NAME
     PrivilegeManager, privmgr - privilege manager

SYNOPSIS
     /usr/sysadm/bin/privmgr

DESCRIPTION
     Managers display information about your system and provide access to
     interactive guides (also called tasks) that let you administer your
     system.  For example, the User Manager displays a list of the user
     accounts currently on the system and gives you access to guides like "Add
     a User Account" and "Modify a User Account."

     In a Manager window, you can open a guide by choosing its name from the
     Task menu or by clicking its button at the bottom of the window.

     The Privilege Manager displays information about privileges on the
     system.  This information is stored on the system in the privilege(4),
     defaultPrivileges(4), and privilegedUsers(4) databases.

     To see the privileges associated with each task, choose "View by Task"
     from the Privilege Manager menu.

GUIDES
     Guides, also called "tasks," are interactive windows that lead users
     through the steps necessary to perform various system administration
     tasks, such as adding new user accounts and configuring networking on the
     system.

     A guide typically consists of a series of pages that prompt users to
     enter information or select options. A user navigates through guide pages
     using the Prev and Next buttons (or corresponding arrow keys).  When the
     user reaches the last page of a guide and clicks the OK button, the
     system executes one or more privileged commands to perform the system
     administration task. These commands are located in /usr/sysadm/privcmd.
     See runpriv(1M) for more information about privileged commands.

     The guides available from the Privilege Manager require that the user
     know the root password.  The privilege management tasks are not
     themselves privileges; you must be root in order to change the privilege
     database.

     Grant Privileges to a User
               This guide lets you grant privileges to a non-root user so that
               user can have some of the privileges that normally only root
               has.  This guide uses the addpriv(1M) and addprivuser(1M)
               commands.

     Revoke Privileges from a User
               This guide lets you revoke privileges from a user.  This guide
               uses the rmpriv(1M) and rmprivuser(1M) commands.

     Enable System Administration Privilegs
               This guide lets you enable the user of privileges by non-root
               users.  This guide uses the -chkconfig argument to the
               addpriv(1M) command.

     Disable System Administration Privileges
               This guide lets you disable all use of privileges by non-root
               users.  This guide uses the -chkconfig argument to the
               rmpriv(1M) command.
