LAUNCHWEBJUMPER(1) LAUNCHWEBJUMPER(1)

NAME
launchWebJumper - open a webjumper or URL, avoiding locked-cache messages

SYNOPSIS
     /usr/sbin/launchWebJumper [-n] [jumpsite ...] [URL ...]

DESCRIPTION
The launchWebJumper script opens a webjumper or URL into the user's Web
browser. The script runs when the user chooses Internet > Open Web
Browser on the toolchest or double-clicks a webjumper(1) icon. Also the
user can run it at a Unix shell command line.

-n Use Netscape, ignoring the user's chosen Web browser.

The optional jumpsite and URL arguments specify which page(s) to load.
Each page appears in a separate browser window. Given no arguments,
launchWebJumper opens the user's chosen Web browser and loads the Silicon
Graphics "Welcome to the Web" page. If the user has not chosen a
favorite Web browser, the script uses Netscape.

For more information about the entire IRIX Interactive Desktop
environment, see the IID(1) man page.

NOTES
launchWebJumper tries to reuse an extant Netscape process, using
Netscape's -remote "openURL(URL, new-window)" interface. If Netscape has
quit or is not fully started, it will fail. If users leave Netscape
running during their session, they can minimize these errors.

launchWebJumper handles 3D data specially. Opening a webjumper that
points to a (possibly compressed) VRML or Inventor location will cause
the 3D data to download directly into CosmoPlayer or WebSpace.
