CONVALIAS(1) CONVALIAS(1)

NAME
conv_alias - convert MediaMail aliases to Netscape Address Book

SYNOPSIS
     /var/netscape/communicator/convalias

DESCRIPTION
convalias reads $HOME/.zmailrc for MediaMail aliases and adds any new
aliases to user's Netscape Address Book. If the alias already exists in
the Address Book as a user or list, the alias will not be added and a
     message will be printed.

convalias does not alter $HOME/.zmailrc. It updates
$HOME/.netscape/address-book.html, or creates it if it doesn't exist. A
backup copy of the Address Book(s) is taken before any modifications are
     done ($HOME/address-book.html.original or $HOME/address-book.html.nn, and
     $HOME/abook.nab.nn).

If you previously ran Communicator 4.x, you will have to import the
address-book.html file manually before you will see the MediaMail aliases
in your Address Book. To import, select Communicator -> Address Book.
In the Address Book, select File -> Import. In the Import address book
     File Finder dialog, select $HOME/.netscape/address-book.html.

Since Netscape Address Book entries are typically more descriptive than
MediaMail aliases, after convalias is run, it is recommended that the
user go into the Address Book and at minimum, update the "Name" field.
