MERGEMAIL(1) — Silicon Graphics
NAME
mergemail − merge mail messages from one folder to another
SYNOPSIS
mergemail [ −d ] [ −c ] emacs-folder [ unix-folder ]
DESCRIPTION
Emacs-folder is a directory that has been created by the Emacs command rmail . The messages in the emacs-folder are individual files stored in this directory. Unix-folder is a file in Unix mail format −− that is, it contains many messages. Two familiar examples of a Unix folder are the files ~/mbox and your mail spool file that is read with the mail(1) command. Mergemail merges the individual message files found in emacs-folder with the messages in the unix-folder . The default value of unix-folder is ~/mbox .
Unless given the −c option, mergemail simply appends the messages in the emacs-folder to the unix-folder .
OPTIONS
−dDelete the emacs-folder after the merge.
−cCheck for message collisions. Messages in the unix-folder that are not in the emacs-folder are preserved; otherwise, the message in the unix-folder is replaced by its version from the emacs-folder . (Messages common to both folders are determined by the Message-Id field.) Messages contained only in the emacs-folder are appended to the unix-folder .
