RC.FS(1M)  —  Silicon Graphics

NAME

rc.getdate − user-configurable system initialization

SYNOPSIS

/etc/rc.getdate

DESCRIPTION

The script rc.fs is called from rc (see brc(1M)) to mount the filesystems. If your IRIS has a second disk you will need to add commands to this script to mount the filesystems on it.

A mechanism for setting the IRIS date automatically is provided.  If bcheckrc (see (brc(1M)) finds an executable file /etc/rc.getdate, the standard output of its execution is used as the argument to date(1), i.e.

date ‘/etc/rc.getdate‘

A sample rc.getdate is provided as part of the release.  It gets the date over the network from an IRIS designated to be a date server.  To use it, simply edit in the hostname of the date server.
