rootcopy − IRIS terminal root partition copy

SYNOPSIS

/etc/rootcopy [ ok ]

DESCRIPTION

rootcopy copies to or from the entire root partition of an IRIS terminal. If run when the system has been booted from the backup partition, it uses dd(1) to copy the entire backup partition to the root partition. If the copy is successful, the system is rebooted using reboot (1M). If run when the system has been booted from the root partition, rootcopy without an argument does nothing; however, giving it an argument ok causes it to copy the root partition to the backup partition.

rootcopy is used during the IRIS terminal’s boot failure recovery sequence. It can only be run by the super-user and will do nothing if run on anything other than an IRIS terminal.

EXAMPLE

rr::sysinit:/etc/rootcopy >/dev/console 2>&1

is the line in a IRIS terminal’s /etc/inittab which invokes rootcopy.
