CLOCK(6D) CLOCK(6D)
NAME
clock - analog clock in a window
SYNOPSIS
/usr/demos/bin/clock [dot]
DESCRIPTION
Clock is a window manager graphics program which shows the
current (machine) time. The current machine time is set
after you boot up the system, when you go into multi-user
mode. If the argument "dot" is used when invoking the clock
(typing "clock dot"), a small, decorative dot covers the
middle of the clock face.
There is no real operator control of this demo. It runs
automatically until it is killed.
COMMENTS
The clock is a good demonstration of variable aspect ratios.
You can reshape the clock to make a tall, skinny clock or a
short, fat clock.
A good and safe demonstration of the cedit (color editor)
program is to edit the colored background of the clock. No
other window manager program uses that particular color
index, so you are not inadvertently changing a color in
another demo.
Avoid overlapping the clock with any other windowing
program, especially double buffered window manager programs.
The clock program updates itself every second, in spite of
what else might be happening on screen. Sometimes, you can
get some horrible cases where the clock program partially
overlaps what should actually be on top of it.
