     RGBmode(3G)                                           RGBmode(3G)

NAME
RGBmode - sets a display mode that bypasses the color map
SPECIFICATION
C RGBmode()
FORTRAN subroutine RGBmod
DESCRIPTION
RGBmode makes the system interpret the contents of the
bitplanes as RGB values. The system writes 8-bit values of
red, green, and blue into the bitplanes; these values
directly control the intensity of the color displayed on the
monitor. RGB mode is useful with 12 or more bitplanes. With
24 bitplanes, 8 bits of red, green, and blue are used. With
fewer than 24 bitplanes, 12 bitplanes are used, 4 bits of
red, green, and blue. The four most significant bits are
used.
You must call gconfig for RGBmode to take effect.
