 status(LM) 06 January 1993 status(LM)

 Name

net status - display the current status of the client

 Syntax

    net stat[us] [client]

 Description

The net status client command displays a table of information about the
local client and any client connections. The banner statement at the top
shows the version number of the network running on the local computer,
the name of the local computer, whether the server or client is running
on the computer, and the date and time. The following list explains the
title and contents of each column:

Consuming from indicates which server is being accessed from the local
                     client.

VC State indicates whether the connection between a client and
server is actively in use at the time the net stat com-
                     mand is entered.

+ Passive Open shows that the server can accept more
                        virtual circuits.

+ Aborted indicates an error has occurred on this cir-
cuit. Usually this circuit can be re-established and
used automatically but it is sometimes necessary to
                        use vcabort(LM).

+ Active shows that the circuit is currently in use,
meaning a local process has a current directory or
open file on the remote machine.

+ Dormant means the circuit is established and ready
for use, but is not currently in use by any local
                        process.

+ Not Established indicates that the server is ready to
establish a new circuit with a client machine.

dialect shows which operating system is communicating through
                     the network connection.

vcid is the ID number of the particular virtual circuit
                     listed.

nprocs is the number of server or client processes which have
open files or current directories on the remote server.

ntrans is the number of request/reply transaction made across
                     the virtual circuit.

The net status command with no options displays status on all installed
    services
