 scomouse(X) 06 January 1993 scomouse(X)

 Name

    scomouse - configure the mouse

 Command syntax

    scomouse [Xtoptions]

 Desktop syntax

    Double-click on the Mouse icon.

The Mouse icon is, by default, in the Controls.

 Description

The Mouse control sets mouse speed and configures the mouse for either
    right- or left-handed use.

Mouse speed has two components, acceleration and threshold are related.
Threshold is how far the pointer has to go before it accelerates.
Acceleration is a function of how fast you move the mouse. For example,
if threshold is set to 8 and acceleration is set to 6, after the pointer
moves 8 pixels, it accelerates to 6 times the speed that you move the
    mouse.

 Command options

The scomouse command supports the standard Xt options.

 Desktop options

    Acceleration speed

This controls how quickly the pointer moves across the screen when the
mouse moves beyond a given distance.

Distance to move before mouse accelerates

This controls how many pixels the pointer can be moved before it
accelerates. For a high-resolution screen lower values work best.

    Right- or left-handed mouse

This swaps mouse buttons 1 and 3 on a 3-button mouse (or mouse buttons 1
and 2 on a 2-button mouse.) The default of assigning mouse button 1 to
the left mouse button favors right-handed people. So for left-handed
use, mouse button 1 is the right mouse button and mouse button 3 (or
mouse button 2) is the left.

 Resources

You can customize some characteristics of scomouse by editing your own
personal X resource file; this file contains user preferences for all of
the X clients. If the file does not already exist, create it with the
    full pathname:

       $HOME/.Xdefaults-hostname/ScoMouse

where $HOME represents your home directory and hostname is the name of
    the machine.

The most useful resources are listed here. For a more complete list of
resources and guidelines on how to modify resources, refer to the Desktop
    Administrator's Guide.

startupfile specifies the filename of the preferences file. The default
                is $HOME/.odtpref/ScoMouse.

    thresholdbar.maximum
specifies the maximum distance a the pointer can move before
it accelerates. The default is 20.

    acceleratorbar.maximum
specifies the maximum mouse acceleration. The default is 10.

 Preferences

The scomouse preferences for each user are stored in:

       $HOME/.odtpref/ScoMouse

If this file is edited before a user starts a session, it could be
confusing if the mouse is not configured as the user expects.

 Files

    /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/ScoMouse
    /usr/lib/X11/$LANG/app-defaults/ScoMouse
    /usr/lib/X11/sco/startup/ScoMouse
    $HOME/.odtpref/ScoMouse
    $HOME/.Xdefaults-hostname/ScoMouse
