 Name

    vol - display the disk volume label and serial number, if they exist

 Syntax


    vol [drive:]


 Description

    A serial number is displayed for a disk formatted with MS-DOS version 4.0
    or later.

 Parameter


    drive:  Specifies the drive that contains the disk for which you want to
            display the volume label and serial number.


 Note

    To cause MS-DOS to display the volume label of the disk in the current
    drive, you can use the vol command with no parameter.
