       NAME
             raise - send signal to program

       SYNOPSIS
             #include <signal.h>
             int raise (int sig);

       DESCRIPTION
             raise sends the signal sig to the executing program.

             raise uses kill to send the signal to the executing program:

                   kill(getpid(), sig);

             See kill(2) for a detailed list of failure conditions.  See
             signal(2) for a list of signals.

          Return Values
             raise returns zero if the operation succeeds.  Otherwise,
             raise returns -1 and errno is set to indicate the error.
