stopnps(1M) stopnps(1M)
NAME
stopnps - stop the IPX protocol stack.
SYNOPSIS
stopnps
DESCRIPTION
The stopnps utility kills npsd which unloads the IPX
(Internetwork Protocol Exchange) stack. It can be executed
only in non-multi-user system states.
After stopping npsd, stopnps waits up to 60 seconds for ipx
clone devices to close before proceeding. New requests to
open /dev/ipx are disallowed until the stack is restarted.
To determine whether the stack is loaded, create a script that
uses statnps, and check the value returned. If the stack is
loaded, statnps returns a value of 0. If the stack is not
loaded, statnps returns a value of 1.
