       NAME
             cpqscsimon - Compaq Fast-SCSI-2 Monitor

       SYNOPSIS
             cpqscsimon start [pollingtime]
             cpqscsimon stop

       DESCRIPTION
The Fast-SCSI-2 Monitoring feature monitors various
operational parameters of the Compaq 32-Bit Fast-SCSI-2
Controller and attached SCSI-2 devices. Support is included
for the ProLiant Storage System and SCSI-2 hard drives. It
reports status changes such as hard drive hot-plug
installation or removal and ProLiant Storage System fan and
temperature alarms to the administrator through mail.

The utility is typically started automatically as the
operating system enters multi-user mode. To prevent the
Fast-SCSI-2 Monitoring feature from being automatically
started as the system enters multi-user mode, rename the file
             /etc/rc2.d/S99cpqscsimon to /etc/rc2.d/s99cpqscsimon.

          Starting/Stopping the SCSI-2 Monitor
The SCSI-2 Monitor is automatically started during the system
startup. You can manually start it by entering:

                         cpqscsimon start [pollingtime]

where pollingtime is the number of seconds to wait between
data collection intervals. The minimum allowed value is 2
seconds. The default time is 30 seconds.

             To stop the monitor, enter:

                         cpqscsimon stop

          SCSI-2 Monitor Alarm Messages
The Mail alarm messages and causes associated with the monitor
are listed below. They are generally preceded by messages to
the system console from the cled(7) driver.

The following definitions apply to all SCSI-2 Monitor alarm
             messages.

cpqsc = host adapter type designation for Compaq 32-Bit Fast-SCSI-2

          Operational Error Messages
Operational errors may cause the Compaq Fast-SCSI-2 Monitor to
issue any of the following messages.

Error n opening command pipe text (CPQ1002)

                   Error n text

These messages indicate an internal error. The error number n
is a UnixWare "errno" error number. The text for this error
number is included in the message. The text may indicate the
cause, which is sometimes a temporary shortage of kernel
resources such as processes or inodes.

The following messages may result from command line errors
when starting the Compaq Fast-SCSI-2 Monitor.
