       NAME
alarm_agent - Compaq Insight Manager (CIM) alarm agent

       SYNOPSIS
             alarm_agent [-p time] [-i] [-s OK | NOTOK] [-t OK | NOTOK]

       DESCRIPTION
alarm_agent is the Compaq Insight Manager (CIM) threshold
monitoring data collection agent. This agent is responsible
for collecting threshold values which are compared to user-
configured thresholds. The threshold information collected is
determined by the CIM MIB registered by cpqsmuxd(1M). If a
configured threshold is exceeded, an alarm trap is sent to the
configured SNMP trap destination and optionally to UNIX mail.
By default, alarm_agent is started by cpqsmuxd with the
arguments specified in the /usr/bin/compaq/smux/config file.

             alarm_agent supports the following options:

-p time specifies the time in seconds between updates
of the MIB variables. If not specified, time
                            defaults to 30 seconds.

-i tells the agent to ignore stop indication from
the cpqsmuxd process. If this option is not
used, when a stop indication is received from
                            cpqsmuxd, alarm_agent terminates.

-t OK | NOTOK enables or disables the ability to send SNMP
traps. If OK is specified, alarm_agent will
                            issue SNMP traps.

-s OK | NOTOK enables or disables set operations on this
agent's MIB variables. A user at a management
station may attempt to set MIB variables
managed by this agent. If OK is specified,
                            alarm_agent will allow set operations.
