NAME

npsd − Netware Protocol Stack Daemon

SYNOPSIS

npsd [ -vtrf ] [ -v verbose ] [ -t ss ] [ -r nn ] [ -f frame type ]

DESCRIPTION

npsd configures the protocol stack. Frame type configuration is automatic.  When NEXTSTEP is rebooted, npsd sends out  Nearest Server Query broadcast packets to find the nearest server.  It tries two times for the following frame formats: Ethernet-II, 802.2 over 802.3, 802.2 with SNAP headers over 802.3, and raw 802.3.  As soon as npsd gets a response from a server, it stops the search process, and configures itself to use the frame format which triggered the response. The -f option is used to define the frame type when sending Nearest Server Query Broadcast packets to find the nearest server.

npsd is typically started in the file /etc/rc. To override the automatic configuration, edit the command line options on the line that contains /usr/netware/etc/npsd.

OPTIONS

-v Enable verbose mode.

-t ss Change timeout on server responses to ss seconds.

-r nn Try each frame type nn times before giving up.

-f frame type
Define the frame type. The values for frame type are ethernet_ii, ethernet_snap, ethernet_802.2, or ethernet_802.3.
