NAME

rdate − set system date from a remote host

SYNOPSIS

/usr/ucb/rdate hostname

DESCRIPTION

rdate sets the local date and time from the hostname given as the argument.  You must be super-user on the local system.  On typical UNIX systems, rdate is often inserted as part of the /etc/rc.local startup script.  NEXTSTEP systems instead typically use the network time synchronization daemon ntpd(8).
