MXTERM(1) — USER COMMANDS
NAME
mxterm − enhanced terminal emulator for X
SYNOPSIS
mxterm [−toolkitoption ...] [−option ...]
DESCRIPTION
The mxterm program is an enhanced version of xterm. In addition to the functionality provided by xterm, mxterm implements X11R5 internationalization features, for example, mxterm is capable of displaying kanji characters using the font sets defined by the locale database. In addition, on startup, mxterm attempts to open an input method using the standard X11R5 mechanisms.
ENVIRONMENT
Mxterm is sensitive to the “LANG” environment variable. If the operating system does not support the locale specified by “LANG“ then mxterm exits. Mxterm calls XSetLocaleModifiers() so that Xlib may inspect the environment for the input method name, etc.
SEE ALSO
Refer to documentation supplied with any input methods.
BUGS
Selections use multi-byte encodings in the current locale rather than Compound Text.
NOTES
The input method must be running before starting mxterm.
Only the root-window interaction style is supported.
7-bit command and response mode strips the most significant bit from all bytes read. This will alter the data for locales that encode characters with values greater than 127. The default for the command and response mode is eight bits.
