  NAME

mesg - Permits or denies messages to a terminal

  SYNOPSIS

    mesg [-n] [-y]

  FLAGS

-n Blocks messages to the user's terminal.

-y Allows messages to the user's terminal.

  DESCRIPTION

The mesg command, when given the -n flag, forbids messages from write by
revoking nonuser write permission on the user's terminal. The mesg
command, when used with the -y flag, reinstates permission. When mesg is
used without flags, it reports the current state without changing it.

  EXAMPLES

    1. To disallow messages to your terminal, enter the following:

        mesg -n

    2. To allow messages to your terminal, use the following:

        mesg -y

  FILES

    /dev/tty*

  SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS

If your system is running CLIX-TS, this command will operate differently.
Refer to the CLIX-TS Secure Facilities User's Guide for more information.

  EXIT VALUES

The exit status is 0 if messages are receivable, 1 if not, 2 on error.
