  NAME

    rwall - Writes to all users on a network

  SYNOPSIS

    rwall [hostname]

    rwall -n netgroup [netgroup...] [-h hostname ...]

  FLAGS

    -n netgroup
           Specifies that the netgroup(s) that follow are netgroup names.

    -h hostname
           Specifies that the hostname(s) that follow are hostnames as found
           in /etc/hosts. The -h flag is used only following the -n flag. If
           no flag is specified, rwall interprets all specified names as
           hostnames.

  DESCRIPTION

    The rwall command reads a message from stdin until an end-of-file
    character ( <Ctrl-D>) is read. It then sends this message, preceded by
    the phrase Broadcast Message, to all users logged in on the specified
    hostname(s). If the -n flag is used, the message is sent to the specified
    network groups which are defined in /etc/netgroup.

    A machine can receive the message only if it is running rwalld, which is
    normally started by the inetd daemon.

  FILES

    /etc/hosts
           Hostname database.

  EXAMPLES

    1. The following example sends a message to all users on the host elmer:

        $ /etc/rwall elmer
        Storms approaching -- save files often.

    2. The following example sends a message to all users in the netgroup
        docgroup and to all users on the hosts elmer and doc:

        $ rwall -n devgroup -h elmer doc
        Important IP meeting at 2:00 - Be there!
