NEWVD(8) —
NAME
newvd − create a new filesystem on a Remote Virtual Disk (RVD)
SYNOPSIS
newvd drive disk-type
DESCRIPTION
Newvd invokes mkfs(8) and executes it with the appropriate parameters for the physical device on which the RVD resides. Drive is a 1-digit integer indicating the virtual drive on which the RVD is spun up (see vdstats(8)). Disk-type is the type of physical disk, as found in /etc/disktab (see disktab(5)), on which the RVD actually resides.
DIAGNOSTICS
“Virtual drive is unused or off” means the RVD is not spun up. Other messages are self-explanatory.
