whoami



PURPOSE

Print the effective current user ID.

SYNTAX


whoami ---|


DESCRIPTION

The whoami command prints who you are.  It works even if you used su to change
your user name, while who am i does not since it uses /etc/utmp.

FILES

/etc/passwd    Name data base.
