NETLOGSTOP(1M)  —  Series 300 and 800 Only

NAME

netlogstop − turn off network logging daemon

SYNOPSIS

/usr/bin/netlogstop

DESCRIPTION

netlogstop stops logging daemon.  All events which have been logged prior to the netlogstop command but which have not yet been written to the log file will be written and the logging daemon will terminate.  Neither log mask is affected.  Series 800 Only: Logging filters, set with netlogstart -o, will be cleared. 

To stop console logging, issue the netlogstart -c C command to clear the console log mask. 

Only the super-user may use this command. 

DIAGNOSTICS

NS file logging has not been started with
’netlogstart’

Netlogstop executed when an netlogstart has not been executed. 

Open of <file> failed: <errno value>
The diagnostic file /dev/nsdiag1 could not be opened. 

Ioctl(<ioctl>) failed: <errno value>
Ioctl() request to NS diagnostics driver failed. 

getopt returned <value>
Library routine getopt() returned unexpected value. 

Permission denied
The command invoker is not super-user.

Illegal option -- <option>
Usage: netlogstop

Illegal invocation of the netlogstop command. 

DEPENDENCIES

Implemented on the Series 300 and 800 only.  On the Series 800 only, netlogstop will stop the logging daemon if it is running. 

Series 300 and Series 800 only: For information about logging with windows, refer to the "Netlogstart Syntax" section of the "Network Event Logging" chapter of the Installing and Maintaining NS-ARPA Services manual for the Series 300, or the "LAN, NS, ARPA Services/9000 Series 800 Node Manager’s Guide" for the Series 800.
