i4ally(1M) — iFOR/LS Version 3
NAME
i4ally − Communicate with iFOR/LS on behalf of iFOR/LS 16-bit Windows clients.
SYNOPSIS
i4ally [ -v ]
DESCRIPTION
The i4ally is a process that enables iFOR/LS 16-bit Windows client applications to use iFOR/LS server-based licenses. The ally is not required for iFOR/LS 16-bit Windows client applications that are using nodelocked licenses only.
This process can reside on any iFOR/LS V3 system (other than 16-bit Windows) or on an iFOR/LS for OS/2 system. It is suggested that it reside on a license server system (instead of a license client system), but this is not required.
The ally currently supports one address family, IP. The ally listens on a port defined in the iFOR/LS configuration file (i4ls.ini) on the system running the ally. In the i4ls.ini file, this port definition can be found in the [iFOR/LS NCS-Server] section as the allyport entry. The i4ls.ini file is usually found in the /opt/ifor/ls/conf directory.
OPTIONS
-v Verbose mode. This causes the iFOR/LS ally to display debugging information to stdout. This information could be useful if a call to Gradient support is required.
