tpsetup(8) tpsetup(8)
NAME
tpsetup - initialize/update physical tape configuration
SYNOPSIS
tpsetup -U | -C devname
DESCRIPTION
tpsetup initializes a new tape or updates an existing tape for use
with the current version of the system software. tpsetup is a simpli-
fied high level interface to the low-level tape administration com-
mands. Tape administration performed by tpsetup consists of building
the correct device nodes in /dev.
devname is the generic name of a tape device as displayed by autoconf.
For example, ios0/stape014 is the SCSI tape drive with SCSI-ID 4 of
the SCSI port 01.
-U Upgrades a tape for the current release of the system software.
This is non-destructive to the tape. Default device nodes are
created (regardless of the actual properties of the device).
-C The same actions are executed as for -U, but unlike -U, device
nodes are created which correspond to the properties of the
device (i.e. only nodes required for this tape device are
created).
