pwr(8) (RM400 only) pwr(8)
NAME
pwr - set machine-specific system attributes
SYNOPSIS
/sbin/pwr [-a [aflag]] [-w [wvalue]] [-s [svalue]] [-p [pflag]]
DESCRIPTION
The pwr command sets some system attributes that are required with
systems that operate a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) on a V24
interface.
The following attributes are supported:
Autopoweron
The system executes an automatic poweron after being powered off
as a result of a shutdown caused by a power failure. This system
attribute can only be expected if the shutdown has reached the
point where the operating system branches to the "init 0" or
"init 6" state.
Wait on Poweroff
A wait time is specified to avoid
a) the system restarting before the UPS has interrupted supply to
the system
b) the system waiting endlessly for this interrupt if the UPS has
not actually interrupted supply to the system
During this wait time, the system pauses in an inactive state but
is not susceptible to a power failure; when this period has
expired, the system powers down. If you are using a 9071 type
UPS, this wait time should be at least as long as upsdowndelay
[see pupsd(8)].
Save boot
The system can be halted for a certain period of time while it is
being booted to allow the batteries to be loaded.
Powerfail
The system is prepared for a shutdown as a result of a power
outage.
OPTIONS
-a Sets the type of restart.
aflag is n, if a restart is not required.
aflag isy, if a restart is required (thus, for example, -a y).

-w Sets the period of time during which the system is to wait until
it is powered off or powered on again. The unit of time for the
value wvalue is seconds (therefore, for example, -w 180, if a
value of 3 minutes was set for upsdowndelay).
-s Sets the period of time during which the system is to wait during
a restart (following a power outage), until the batteries have
been loaded. The unit of time for the value svalue is minutes
(therefore, for example, -s 10 gives the batteries a load time of
10 minutes, before the system finishes the restart).
-p Indicates that a powerfail has occurred.
pflag is n, if, for example, a powerfail no longer exists (or
this system attribute is not to be used).
pflag is y, if a powerfail is pending and the system behavior
described is to be used (thus, for example, -p y).
Caution: Only the last occurrence of the respective option is con-
sidered (from left to right).
EXAMPLES
pwr -a y -w 180 -s 15 -p y
Assume there is a Power-Fail and you would like to use Autopoweron.
The system is to wait 180 seconds and delay the restart for 15 minutes
after power has returned to give the batteries time to recover from
the last interrupt phase.
