NAME
timedc - control program for the timed daemon
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/timedc [statement [argument ...]]
DESCRIPTION
The timedc command enables you to monitor and control the functions of
the timed daemon. The timedc command allows you to
- measure the differences between the system clocks in your local
network
- locate the host on which the master time server is running
- activate or deactivate logging of messages received by the timed
daemon on your host
- analyze and correct synchronization faults between the system
clocks of the hosts in your local network
This command can only be called under the system administrator login
name.
OPTIONS
no argument
If you call the timedc command without specifying any parameters,
timedc requests you to enter information relating to standard
input.
with arguments
If timedc is called and parameters are specified, timedc inter-
prets the first call parameter as the statement and all the fol-
lowing parameters as arguments of the statement. Standard input
can be redirected, timedc then reads statements from a file. The
statements for timedc can be abbreviated. The following state-
ments are known to timedc:
?[statement ...] or help[statement ...]
timedc outputs a brief description of each statement in the
argument list. If no arguments have been specified, timedc
outputs a list of defined statements.
clockdiff host ...
Calculates and outputs the difference between the system
clock on the local host and the system clock of the speci-
fied remote host (host).
trace {on|off}
Switches logging of incoming messages to timed in the file
/var/adm/timed.log on and off.

setdate {hhmm | mmddhhmm[[cc]yy]}
Resets the date.
msite
Establishes the host on which the current master time daemon
is running and outputs this information.
election host
Proposes the timed daemon of the host as master.
masterquit host
After this command is issued, the timed daemon of the host
no longer operates as the master.
quit Terminates timedc command.
