pkgrm(1M) pkgrm(1M)
NAME
pkgrm - removes packages from the system
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/pkgrm [-n|-c[h]] [-a admin] [pkginst1 [pkginst2[ ...]]]
/usr/sbin/pkgrm -s dir [pkginst1 [pkginst2[ ...]]]
DESCRIPTION
pkgrm will remove previously installed or partially installed packages
from the system. A check is made to determine if any other packages
depend on the one being removed. The action taken if a dependency
exists is defined in the admin file or in the default admin file.
The default state for the command is in interactive mode, meaning that
prompt messages are given during processing to allow the administrator
to confirm the actions being taken. Non-interactive mode can be
requested with the -n option.
The -s dir option can be used to remove spooled packages.
OPTIONS
-n Non-interactive mode. The command is aborted should interaction
be required. pkrm cannot recognize interactive input in installa-
tion scripts, though the situation should not arise.
Use of this option requires that at least one package instance be
named when the command is called.
-c Check mode (virtual deinstall). The packages are not actually
removed, rather a check is run to see whether a deinstall could
be carried out successfully (dependencies etc.).
-ch Records the information from a virtual deinstall for other vir-
tual deinstallations.
-a Defines an installation administration file, admin, to be used in
place of the default admin file.
-s Removes the specified package(s) from the dir directory. The
spool alias name for the standard spool directory can also be
specified for dir.
pkginst
Specifies the package to be removed. The pkginst.* format can be
used to remove all instances of a package.
NOTES
When you are removing installed packages, you will need approx. 3 MB
capacity in the /var directory. Please ensure that this space is
available before invoking the command.
