ncheck(1M) ncheck(1M)
NAME
ncheck (generic) - generate a list of path names versus i-numbers
SYNOPSIS
ncheck [-F FSType] [-Vas] [-i i-numbers] [-o specificoptions] [spe-
cial ...]
DESCRIPTION
ncheck with no options generates a pathname versus i-number list of
all files on special. If special is not specified on the command line
the list is generated for all specials in /etc/vfstab for entries
which have a numeric fsckpass. special is a block special device or a
raw device on which the file system exists.
There are two types of option: genericoptions and specificoptions.
genericoptions indicate options that are supported not only by the
generic but also by the FST-specific module of the command (if that
command exists). specificoptions indicate suboptions that are sup-
ported only by the FST-specific module of the command. They are speci-
fied in a comma-separated list and/or as keyword-attribute pairs for
interpretation by the FST-specific module of the command. These subop-
tions are specified via the -o option.
The genericoptions are:
-F Specifies the FSType on which to operate. The FSType should
either be specified here or be determinable from /etc/vfstab by
finding an entry in the table that has a numeric fsckpass field
and a matching special if specified.
-V Echoes the complete command line, but does not execute the com-
mand. The command line is generated by using the options and
arguments provided by the user and adding to them information
derived from /etc/vfstab. This option should be used to verify
and validate the command line. When used with the FSType option,
it passes the -V to the FSType-specific module for interpreta-
tion.
-i i-number
Limits the report to those files whose i-numbers follow. The i-
numbers must be separated by commas without spaces.
-a Allows printing of the names "." and "..", which are ordinarily
suppressed.
-s Limits the report to special files and files with set-user-ID
mode. This option may be used to detect violations of security
policy.
-o Used to specify FSType specific options if any.
